Im tring to find my family tree for free can someone tell me how to do it?

Go to myhertage.com its completely free and wonderful . You make your tree and it has a thing called smart -match where it matches you up with people who have the same ancestors as you. I have found alot of relatives on there

Ask your parents and grandparents. Little by little, you will get far. Sometimes if you have a not so common last name, it is hard to find stuff online.

what i did when i was do the whole family tree things, was that i went to a Mormon Church, They have really good records,going way back.and the people they are really nice and will help you get started and everything. All you need is a great-grandfather names and that would do it.

P.s. Look through Census records, they are really help full, and only go by males in your family, because women were not knows as the head of household.

Start with your grandparents or great grandparents names if you know them.  Go to your local board of records and began searching census records, birth/marriage certificates, etc.

Also join different research websites such as geneology.com to do surname (last name) searches and connect with others searching the same names.

If your great-aunt did a ton of research and posted it on the Internet, you'll be able to find that tree for free. Otherwise you'll have to do quite a bit of research yourself. If you are white and most of your ancestors lived in the USA, you should be able to get back to people alive in 1850 with 100 - 300 hours of work. (Only to 1870 if you are black, sadly.) Write if you want details.
