Im trying to buy a car...?

i want to buy a car....im just a teen, so i couldnt afford a nice one, but anyways, a cheapie car from like a really cheap lot..any advice ?!?!

Young drivers usually have higher rates because they have much higher risk of accident, and rates depends on car model.

I bought and sold my cars through Craigslist, definitely the way to go.  Also:

1. If you know that you plan to buy a car at a certain time, subscribe to carfax to make sure that someone is not hiding something. You can get a one month subscription for $25.

2. If you're buying a cheap car, try to find a Toyota, Nissan or Honda, they are two of the most reliable makes available, and most small Japanese cars will hold up much longer than American-made compact cars

3. I think you'll do better to find a car from an owner rather than a lot. A salesman at a lot will not have any knowledge of a car's history. Deal with current owners, because you can get a better idea if this person was good to his car or not and should provide you with a service history to make sure they maintained the car responsibly.

Don't get attached to just one car when you are shopping. Remember, there are probably thousands of other vehicles just like the one you are interested in for sale! If you feel like you're getting screwed you probably are so my advice would be to pick a few different cars that have good histories (use carfax) and such off the Internet and then pick up a phone and call the numbers one by one and see how much they are willing to deal! The car market sucks right now so a lot of people will be more than happy to cut the price of the car way down in order to move some inventory. Hope this helps...

look for

98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

these are all reliable and will last longer than other cars in this price range.

toyota corolla or nissan sentra these are great choices if the mileage is under 95000 it can go up to 145000 then it starts running into problems

I would advise against that route, there is alot of ways to get screwed.

Number one get a mechanic you trust and take any vehcile you are interested in to him BEFORE you make any purchase. If they won't let you then move on. There are tons of buy here/pay here lots around.

Go online and look up the NADA Trade/Retail values. Pay as close to the trade value, because most likely  they paid the trade or less for the car.

Craigslist is a good place to look for personal sales, which is also a good idea. Just get the vehicle checked out before you make any type of purchase.

Teen? 16, 17, 18 ???

I work at a car lot. STAY AWAY from things like craigslist. We see people all the time getting themselves in trouble. Buy from a used car dealership.

If you have parents that will co-sign with you that would help alot. It will help you establish some credit.
