I have emailed for information and some people have put where they live e.g. Leicester and I found out it was in the USA. Now another 'lady' in Devon is demanding I pay using moneygram and even said to go and pay it now. Where am I going wrong?

  1. Look for a reputable breeder, don't try to get a cheap one off the internet. There is a HUGE scam going on right now targeting Yorkies and French Bulldogs...they offer you the pup free or cheap but it needs to be shipped...then oh it needs a vet health certificate....then it is stuck in customs...after sending hundreds of dollars you have no pup and the person vanishes.

I'm not sure what resources there are in the UK but there should be breed clubs and registries that can help you find a breeder.  You might also try asking groomers since Yorkies tend to get professional grooming.

  2. Be sensible!, would you buy a car without trying it out first or at least getting a friend in the know to look at it?. So why buy a dog you appear to know very little about without at least looking at it first. Most reputable dealers will have no problem with you vetting the dog first hand, the others ? well!!, as for cash up front, I will sell you two for the price of half a one, if you pay for the half a one first so that I can bring the other one and a half once I have filled my car with petrol, etc bull bull etc. Get wise, go on to google or your local web network and search for the owners or show clubs, then contact the chairman or club captain, whatever, for some intelligent and usually only slightly biased, after all they love them too, sound advice. Never buy from a newspaper ad' or a postcard in an ad' box, you are asking for and very likely will get a nasty surprise. Finally never ever! no matter what the seller insists on!, ever, ever, part with any money before you have the dog in your safe possession, in good fit condition. I am really trying to help you, as I have helped many others in the past. However, I do get just a tiny bit annoyed when sound advice is ignored and then I get a request for further help regarding ignored advice. Good luck with your quest for a pet, but please be careful and don't let your heart rule your head.

  3. You want a smaller, yappier version of a small, yappy dog.  That's where you're going wrong.

  4. try the links below.

be prepared to travel & most vendors are checked & vetted.

you never know you may find a tea-cup yorkie that needs a second chance, as these are dog-rescue sites.

sorry it's all i can think of, to stop you being ripped off.

  5. I have a teacup yorkie she is lovely, had her for 6 years now. I bought her from a pet shop, do you not have any pet shops near you who sell dogs? Also could try looking in your local Loot newspaper as breeders advertise in there.

The lady in Devon is a scam, you don't pay anyone until you get the dog.
