  1. Try some activity like tap dancing and music and movement.

Not all disabled children like to sit around sticking bits of paper into books.

If they find moving difficult get them to try painting. Be prepared for a mess and lots of laughs.

  2. 1.Reindeer Headband "Hats."

Use a strip of paper and have the children use their hands as the pattern for two antlers. You can help them dip their hands in paint and make imprints. Or you can help them trace and cut them from construction paper.

(The degree of assistance depends on age and level of disabilities.)

    2. Snowman from Shapes:

Big, medium and small circles for the head and body.

Square or rectangle for the hat.

    A triangle for the nose.

Circle dots for the eyes, buttons, etc.

Glue the shapes onto another paper.

    Or paint the shapes.

(Mix paint with liquid soap so it launders out.)

  3. I understand this a lot.  This website will give you tips plus links for several craft ideas.  Go with your personality after getting started.  If you list the types of disabilities and the age range of the children, I'll give you more specific ideas I've used myself.

My absolute personal favorite: painted t-shirts or sweatshirts.  There's loads of ways to do this, depending on their age.  Shirts are really cheap and so are paints.  All you have to do, depending on age and ability, would either be using sponge letters, stars, etc., or templates you get at places like Wal-Mart and Michaels and use paintbrushes.

    Good luck!

Edit - Just saw Jeff's ideas.  He's right about the soap in the paint. Just make sure not to add too much soap.

  4. You haven't given enough information in your question to answer this questions well. What age are the children you're targeting; interest needs to be met as well as instructional levels.  What are you space constraints? What is your time constraint?  There is a little thing called "differentiated instruction" that is what we do with typically developing children being taught along side children with special needs.  Is this a Christmas project, art project, content specific activity......? I would love to help you but you need to give more detail.  jayneice315@yahoo.com

  5. maybe have two kids (one disabled the other not) and ask them to do stuff-like write their name or walk and other stuff like that

    -hope this helps

  6. painting, montage, paper mache,or some other type of interesting art...all the best
