  1. Most likely, you don't really have one. Oh, yes, the websites and the companies that sell coats of arms have researched coats of arms and family crests, but those are of people who have the same family name you have.  Technically speaking, it is most likely that you are not officially authorized to use that family crest or coat of arms.

If the family is English, the crest is registered with the Earl Marshall, in Scotland with the Lord Lyon, in Ireland with the Chief Herald, etc.  It is expensive to have your own personal crest registered.

I have an English family name, and I have, over the years seen at least a half dozen family crests for my family name, and they are all different.  However, I do not technically have the right to use any of them under current regulations.

The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. has a process of registration of coats of arms, if you are just doing it for fun.  http://www.sca.org/heraldry/OandA/herald...

If all you want to do is have a picture of a coat of arms of somebody else, sure, you can buy one.  Here is a website that may help you: http://www.allfamilycrests.com/

As for me, I am just a middle class person whose ancestors were not aristocracy or gentry. I know that I am not entitled to use somebody else's coat of arms irrespective of the fact that  they are the coat of arms of a person who has the same family name.  No thanks, I am proud to be just a middle-class kind of guy.

  2. NOPE BUY IT OR GO SOMEWHERE AND LOOK IT UP

  3. Try these free family crest search websites:

  4. Well tell us your surname first silly. You most likely won't have a proper one, it'll be just made up recently.

  5. Come up with your own:  how about two crossed brooms and a donkey?
