  1. I thought it was a drug for diabeties??

  2. I had not read of Metformin being  used for infertility until I saw Andrea K's comments, here are links related to this:

FDA drug label  for Glucophage (a brand of metformin, note in this 2006 approved label, use in fertilty has not been approved, I do not know of later changes). Click label information for the pdf file.

  3. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a common cause of infertility. It has many characteristics, including infrequent periods, weight gain, skin tags, darkening of skin in certain areas (back of neck, elbows, knees). One of the reasons these occur is insulin resistance.

The metformin helps your body become more receptive to the insulin. It is normally used to treat type 2 diabetes, but can be used to help in treating infertility with PCOS.

Most doctors will also pair this with Clomid to help with ovulation.
