Im trying to network Vista to XP but XP dosent have a valid ip (127.0.0.1) how do i change it?

  1. In the xp computer go to start>conrol panel>Network connection> right click on (pick your connection, but usually its local area connection)>properties>(under this connection uses the following scroll down to internet protocol (ip) then 2x click on it)> then push obtain ip adress auto (recommend) OR manually type your deired ip adress.


  2. Networks are a little more than just hooking up computers together.  The easiest way to do it is with a router, which will more or less host the network.  On the other hand, if you want to just er...connect up computers for some reason, set up a network using Vista and then use XP to connect to it.

    Not too sure what the question is though.

  3. 127.0.0.1 is the loopback address. You ping this address to determine if your network card is working and your TCP/IP stack is configured correctly.

  4. 127.0.0.1 is NOT a valid network IP address. It is the internal loopback address and EVERY machine has this address for internal use only. Explain the problem and maybe we can help.
