I'm trying to replace a fan switch in a ceiling fan. It's a 4 wire switch that uses black, blue, red and yellow wires. The back of the switch is numbered L, 1, 2, 3. I wired it the way I thought the old one was wired and it didn't work. I tried several different combinations and still couldn't get it to work. From the fan there are red, yellow and 2 black wires. One of the black wires was wired to the blue switch wire. I put a piece of tape on for identification. I still can't get it to work. I'd appreciate any help with this problem. anyone?
