Im trying to sell an item on ebay, but do I get the money first?

This is my first time on ebay, so im pretty much confused; i'm trying to sell an item, but will i get the money first? For one thing, I don't have a credit card, since my parents wont give me one, and i was wondering if i am able to accept the money order in cash or check, and how would they send me the money?? please help!!!!!!

The only practical way is for them to send you a check or money order. Don't forget both can be counterfeited. Do not send the item until you get the payment. Make sure you have an actual address and not a PO box so if the check bounces you can at least give the police an actual address.

My recommendation is to use Craigslist for your local city. You can have payment in cash and the person can pick up the item.

Make sure you state that you only accept check or money orders in your auction and also , state that they must clear before item is shipped, once payment is cleared ship the item/

Yes, you will get the money when you receive paymet.  Never, ever send anything before you get the money on ebay.  And yes you can choose check or money order as your method of payment, though the vast majority of people prefer to use paypal.
