  1. If these are nice cars they will bring top dollar, I sell trucks on ebay and have started the bidding at 10k and also started at $1 start at $1.00 and put a reserve on them

  2. I would have an auto appraiser look at them. There will be a fee but it's worth it to not get ripped off. Also with the appraisal you can put more information on E-bay ab out the cars to get more serious bidders.

  3. First you want to make sure that you have her permission. Then get an appraiser (insurance co or auction house should have one on staff), and set the starting price for that. Make sure you take plenty of good pictures and that your description is very detailed.

  4. It's EASY - all you need to do is look at cars just like hers on Ebay.  Do this for a month or two, not 5 minutes.  If you want to see what they're worth,  look at the completed auctions for the same car.  Not only does this let you know what they're worth, it also lets you see what other people have to say about their cars.  It's important.  Take a month.

Keep in mind that with muscle cars, sometimes the car will have a rare option that makes it worth much more than most of the other ones.  A rare high performance engine might make the car be worth twice as much, or 10 times as much.  A convertible might be worth twice as much, or 10 times as much.  It depends on the car.  This is where comparing to ebay requires some thought.

To be able to ask in a forum what a car is worth, you have to get un-ignorant.  It's pretty easy, if you do it right.  For example, let's say your aunt has a 1967 Dodge Coronet.  Just get on here and say "I am going to be selling a 1967 Dodge Coronet that belongs to my aunt - I'm not sure what collectors look for - what options would make this car worth a lot more to collectors?"

A lot of these old cars came in 4 or 5 body styles, so pictures may help you figure out what the car is.  You may also be able to find a web site that "decodes" the cars.  Most of the time that's easy to do.  You might want to come back in here and ask "What's a good web site to decode VIN's and trim tags on a 1967 Dodge Coronet?"

If your questions make sense, and you don't blather a whole lot, people will answer 'em.

P.S. - when you get ready to sell on ebay, don't worry about setting the bid higher.  The bidders will take care of the bidding.  Your job is to show the car as it is and point out the finer points of what the buyer is getting.  That's what you need to focus on.

Look at other people's auctions and see what you like.
