okay, so im going to be 16 pretty soon..and my parents said they'd buy the car if i buy the gas. so im looking for a car, preferebly a stylish, 2 door one. so i looked for a 4-cylinder on autotrader, and a celica popped up. i fell in love, but i dont know if its a safe car..i heard they're bad in the winter. so i need some suggestions on whether its a good car for me or if i should find another, and if so, what kind?

  1. I would stay away from the sports cars for primary cars.  They are good for a second car in the summer, but you really want something that will handle better on ice.

  2. Don't get the Celica as your first car. Not because the car is bad or anything but your insurance rate will be really high.

Regardless of what car you get, the insurance rate will be pretty high for you to begin with but since the Celica is a 2-door coupe, it'll be even higher than 4-door sedans.

If I were you, I'd get a 4-door and save some of that insurance money for the gas.

  3. my mom gave my brother hers when he turned 18, theyre really nice cars, and its a toyota so it will last, only thing is if ur paying for insurence its gunna be 150+ cause its a sport car, but other then that its good choice, i myself am looking at honda accords for my frist car

  4. I say if you want the Celica go for it. I had a sports car as my first car Firebird Furmula insurance wasn't that bad it goes down also if you take drivers ed. As far as them being bad in winter time it depends on where you live I live in WV with all kinds of hills and mountains and the firebird done good on ice via I sled a lot it depends alot of the driver also but I say if you really want it go for it,

  5. An Acura RSX-Sport is what I prefer.

It has 23/29 gas mileage and it'll smoke any stock Celica out there. It's also recommended as a first car from ConsumerReports, an authentic source for vehicles.

    Hope this helps~~

  6. If they are buying and you are doing the gas, I would be looking at something like a Honda accord. They go forever and get good gas mileage. Do some searching first. Search best vehicle mpg, most economical cars, top selling cars, etc. Something else to remember to think about is how much is it gonna cost  to have it repaired if something goes wrong. Some cars are more expensive than others to repair. With the price of gas nowadays, its not all about how good ya look in it if ya can't afford to drive it!!!!

    Good Luck!!!!!

  7. They buy the car, you buy the gas and who pays the insurance ?

If you mind about the insurance, don't go too crazy getting something with the terms turbo or sport, etc because insurance companies love to jack the rate for that type of car for that age of driver.

Toyotas are good.  but if you've gotta deal with driving in snow, Subaru is the winner.

  8. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://carquotes.imess.net

Such an sporty car costs a lot to insure for a 1st time driver.
