Im using Belkin g mimo wireless router and g mimo usb adapter but only getting 54mbps connection. Why is this?

  1. 54mbps is the standard optimal speed, in practice you will be getting nowhere near this with a wireless connection, as the distance from router, walls, electrical interference all degrade the signal.

    Fundamentally though your broadband connection  from your router to the internet is likely to be maximum 8Mbps so your wireless speed is not the limiting factor - your slow connection will be down to your internet service provider


  2. 54 mbps is good. It's what I get all the time (almost). I understand you can get routers and adapters that are faster, but what for?

  3. If you are on a wirelessconnection 54 is good.  I only get more when using an ethernet connection.
