  1. Maybe your baby needs more protein. Maybe you should move down to vegetarianism while your pregnant and nursing.

  2. try egg beaters or tofu scramble

  3. You are craving it for a reason.  It's probably not the egg, but something in the egg that you crave.  Same goes for all cravings.  Cravings are also caused by imbalances too.  Too much of one thing can cause a craving for something to balance that out.

  4. This hasn't happened to me , but I'll tell you my sister's experience.

She was vegan throughout her second pregnancy (vegetarian during the first) and was fine.

During her third, she was feeling really ill, having a very difficult pregnancy. One day in the supermarket she thought 'If I don't have that chicken sandwich I'll throw up!' - bought it, ran out to the car tearing it open, and wolfed it down. And felt better.

From then on, she ate meat and dairy throughout her pregnancy, and went back to being a vegan after the birth.

I'm not saying you can't have a successful vegan pregnancy - of course you can - and I'm not urging you to stop being a vegan - I'm a vegan myself.

But sometimes, especially in pregnancy, it doesn't hurt to listen to your body

  5. Vegan or not your body is craving it cuz it is lacking in nutrition. Quit being Vegan just for some stuff and take care of that baby.

  6. I thought you might want to look this over and see if maybe there is something lacking in your diet and that is the reason for your craving

  7. My friend is one and her mom had to tell her to eat eggs at least because of nutritious reasons.

  8. Generally, any food craving is your bodies demand for nutrients.  Pregnancy makes a huge demand on the body and you should be consuming a huge amount of protein, calcium, iron, folic acids, et cetera.

Being vegan and being pregnant aren't really compatible.  You need the extra nutrients that dairy and meats give you so the baby can develop normally.  Otherwise you will risk your baby having developmental issues and low birth weight.

Talk to your doctor about your food choices if you absolutely refuse to eat meat or meat products.  He will probably prescribe extra vitamin supplements.

  9. Hey, congrats on your pregnancy :)

I am a vegan myself, but you should eat the eggs if you are craving them that much. Eggs are fertilized so they never had a life or a face anyway.

If you don't want to eat eggs and you think its wrong drink lots of water or herbal tea. This usually stops your cravings, or do some things to get the food off your mind.. eat something else that you REALLY love.. Sometimes nuts and seeds also stops cravings

    Hope I helped ;D

    Good luck!

  10. Egg yolks are still eggs, and the part with all the fat and cholesterol.  In a fertilized egg, the yolk would become the chick.  However, the eggs you buy in stores are never fertilized, as the hens are crammed together in cages with no rooster in sight.

Sounds like you want fat and protein.  The suggestion of a spoonful of peanut butter sounds good.

  11. You are pregnant. Just give your body what it wants. Sometmes cravings are your body's way of telling you that you need more of something. If you really want to sidestep the eggs, Eat a giant spoonful of peanut butter. If you are still craving eggs, eat the eggs.

  12. You're craving for eggs might indicate that you need more protein. Sometimes when the body is lacking a certain nutrient, it let's us know by making us crave a particular food that is high in that nutrient.

I'm vegan and have never been pregnant....but if you are craving eggs, then eat them. You're body might react unpleasantly since you haven't had eggs in years though. Just make sure you are getting enough of all the nutrients you need.

  13. I was told by my obstetrician/gynecologist while I was pregnant that when I had a craving a certain/specific type of food, then it's your body's way of telling you that you need something (a vitamin or mineral or protein whatever) that is in that food.

I was worried while I was pregnant because I always craved seafood and hot and spicy foods so I consulted my doctor. I worried because of the potentially harmful mercury found in most sea foods....my doctor put me at ease by telling me what I have already stated above....

Maybe have someone boil you an egg or even go to breakfast with someone who eats eggs....and just have one bite,....This is usually how I could get my 'fix' ....lol....just one bite usually did it for me and I was good to go for awhile.

Good Luck! And Congratulations on your pregnancy :)

  14. What is the difference between eating the eggs and eating the egg yolks?

This can't be for real.  You are pregnant and you don't know what an egg yolk is?  Your partner managed to fertilize yours, now it's a fetus.

When I am pregnant (which is hopefully now, but too soon to tell) I am going to get eggs from my friends' chickens because I know they are happy chickens.  That is, if I can stand the taste.  I hate eggs.

  15. SO EAT SOME! Being vegan is your choice; not someone else's. They're delicious. Egg's are unfertilized so you're not eating a baby chicken; the eggs get laid whether they're fertilized or not. If you don't eat them, they get thrown away.

  16. During pregnancy you are supposed to pay attention to your cravings.

Eggs have two parts, the yolk (which when fertilized is the actual developing chick) and the whites (which is food for the developing chick fetus)  The yolk is actually the less healthy part, as it is high in cholesterol. As someone else said, if you eat egg yolk, you might as well eat the whole egg, as the yolk is the less healthy part.

It's possible your body and baby are telling you you need more protien.. You don't HAVE to have egg, but you can  have some good vegan protien.. Beans and brown rice together make a complete protien, as good as any complete protien found in any animal source. Maybe better.

Anyway, listen to your cravings and use your common sense to make sure you're getting  varied and nutritious diet..

My sis-in law went through two vegan pregnancies and was fine and healthy the whole time, as were both her babies.. It is FINE to be vegan while preggo, as long as you make sure you get a good diet and extra of the things you need extra of (like protien)

  17. Your body craves what it needs, like years ago pregnant women craved dirt because of some vitamin in it, now there are pills for it. (I'm not sure what vitamin.) But give in and eat them, eat whats best for you and the baby.

  18. I've obviously never been pregnant, but maybe it would help to substitute something high in protein.

  19. It is very hard to stay vegan while you are pregnant. Your body will need more food and nutrients and will start a craving that you cant avoid. Just go off the vegan diet during your pregnancy. You have to take care of your body and your growing baby inside. The baby will always get the nutrients but since he/she takes those from you, you will feel sick. Just eat what you crave. I would stay vegetarian but at least have dairy (including eggs). But take it slowly cause your body is also not used to digesting these things. Eat only half an egg and wait a bit and see if you dont get sick. You have to get your body accostomed to digesting these things again. Congrads on your baby and good luck. Pregnancy is hard on your body no matter what.

  20. Sweetie, talk to your doctor about this. You may be lacking some nutrients calcium and iron would be my guess, but I'm not your doctor.

  21. maybe you could try to find a fake egg that would be vegan but idk if those exist.

but make sure your getting enough protein, cuz its hard when your not eating meat or animal products. its really important for your baby.

  22. there's nothing wrong with eating eggs or egg yolks. If you eat the yolks, you might as well eat the whole thing. You can buy an organic egg if you're worried about the chemicals, but then again, there's no guarantee that they're really organic. If you're craving things while your pregnant, give in and treat yourself. You deserve it. you're feeding your baby healthy foods, Since you've been vegan for a while, take it easy, go slow and small amounts. the grilled cheese maybe have made you sick b/c you're body wasnt used to it. Take your time but most of all, spoil yourself and your baby, it's ok.

  23. lol yes, pregnancies tend to make people want every possible meal out there. Knock yourself out, try some eggs. Eggs are good for you and if you don't like them, dont eat them again. Good luck!
