Question:

Im vegan but my family eats out a ton at FAST FOOD resturaunts?

The only thing i can think of that is vegan is mcdonalds house salad and other plain garden salads. Is that it? Also what about regular resturaunts is it pretty much salads?

  1. Your family is dumb. Even if they are not vegan or vegetarian, it is unhealthy and gross to eat fast food, except maybe twice a month or so.


  2. Check out fast-food restaurants' online menus and nutrition guides.  Some will specifically point out vegan-friendly options.  These are generally pretty limited but there's almost always something you can eat.

    In regular restaurants, even if there isn't anything vegan at first glance you can generally modify something.  If you're tired of salads, try a baked potato or potato skins with salsa instead of butter (or sour cream, bacon bits, etc.); veggie pizza with no cheese (it's easiest to lie and say you're allergic to dairy); steamed veggies with no butter; etc.

  3. Yeah, there are options like cooking for your family and all that, but that can get cumbersome after awhile unless you REALLY enjoy it. Or, you can let them run out to McDonnalds while you stay home and cook only for yourself. It's pretty easy to slap a veggie burger in a microwave.

    Also, I know that, at least in Georgia, Burger King offers veggie burgers which are very good, and they don't have any cheese. Also, SOME Subways offer meat subsitutes that are healthy and tasty. Call your local Subway and ask if they participate.

    A lot of sit-down resturaunts offer veggie burgers or portobello mushroom burgers... both of which are very satisfying. Just search around online and see what you can come up with.

  4. Some fast food places sell vegi burgers which is made of soy protein and they taste very good.   A bit pricy though.

  5. Ask them if they can stop at the grocery store and let you get crusty rolls and fresh vegetables.  You can get sliced fruit and juice too.  That comes to about 6-7 dollars, the same as fast food.

    You deserve more than a side salad and they should consider you in their dinner planning.  Fast food is disgusting and unhealthy.  They should care more about what they eat like you do.

    Regular restaurants are a little better than fast food places.  Even if your family chose chinese there is more that you could get.  They sell a lot of vegetable and tofu dishes at those places.  

    Good luck and remember you won't be at home forever.  The time flies and you will be on your own making your own decisions.  Take care.

  6. The best thing you could do is ask if you can cook for your family. If my family ate a lot of fast food, I'd be extremely worried about their health.

  7. why don't you go to a chinese restaurant they have a tofu and veggie dishes that are awesome.

  8. If you are Vegan, it is important that you learn how to prepare foods that will help you gain optimum health. Everybody knows that fast food is not good.

    Let your folks know how serious you are about being a vegan and I think you should see if there is a place for you to meet more vegans. Either online or in person.
