Im want to move to Valence,France.?

Question

Has anyone ever been there? How much is the cost of living? Is it nice?

(note-I speak fluent french and have saved up 75,000$,will that be enough to get me going?)

Valence is a small city, rather cheap for France, but with the exchange rate expensive for an American. I personally like it and if you're used to small cities you will enjoy it. People there are not used to a big crowd of foreigners, it is in Lyon further north that you have plenty of foreigners. If you are not ready to live in a small city I counsel going to Lyon.

Climate is very hot in summer, with rather impressive dry storms, mild in winter. A/C is still rare so be ready for heat. Be also ready for wind, the mistral (north wind) blows down the canyon created by the Massif Central and the Alps and can be violent. You are in driving range of both mountain ranges, have the river Rhone next door, and can take the train to the French Riviera for the weekend.  

You can rent an apartment of 50 square meters for around 500 Euros a month, which is cheap compared to cities like Paris. Have a look at the prices.

Food stuff is 300 Euros at a minimum at first until you learn your way around, don't expect to find American food and we have much less processed meals than in the US. I would say count between 1000 to 1500 Euros per month for everything at first, depending what you will be paying for your apartment. Add taxes to that if you start working there.

i'm french but i never went in Valence.

What you saved is good but not to buy a house.
