If you live on the WEst coast then you will never have any events showing LIVE. It's all pre-recorded and played during convenient times when most people are home, just so NBC can try to get the most viewers. They suck and they lie. But right now is like 11pm for China so even if it were LIVE for the East coast there are no events going on except for USA Mens Basketball.

Are you sure you're watching NBC? 'Cause I just checked, it's basketball right now. I guess it's possible your local NBC station cut into the broadcast with some breaking news. If you're in a western time zone it'll probably start later, because nothing's live right now which means NBC can start the Olympics when the news is over.
