Im wondering what the significance of seeing an owl up close means.sitting next 2 our car, on a dirt road...?

we were driving very slowly, at almost dark, and an owl camw down through the tress and landed on the side of the road. we stopped the car and the owl just turned and looked at us, and then flew away? wut is this representing i wonder... someone please help me out.

Onto the question.

I would say that it is what shamans like to call "your spirit animal" meaning that it represents one of you. An owl is intelligent and thus represents wisdom. When seeing an owl or having one as your guide that means that you have him to guide you in making choices. Secondly they forewarn of danger many times and if he took the time to visit one of you it could mean to be cautious. But like RJ said they also mean good intentions.

I would say in general you are a very lucky person to have seen an owl up close. They are rare to see especially so near and especially to have it acknowledge you.

That is very mysterious..... veeeery mysterious.  Owls don't usually land in the road unless they are catching something to eat and you did not say it did that.   Owls are suppose to represent intelligence and wisdom.  Perhaps it was meaning that you will come to meet someone who will try to guide you in some endeavor.  Perhaps school or a job or career.  Perhaps it was telling you to listen to this person who has only good intentions for you.... as owls are not known to be evil.

That is what I get from it.

I think it means he was tired of flying or I found some food in the road. There are no hidden meanings.

I agree with the above description of the meaning of the owl but the Native Americans say that owls represents deception so are you being deceitful or are you being deceived?
