im writeing a teen novel on my based on my life

and im going to mention my friends but im not sure if i should write the bare facts about there lives?

( i will be changeing there names) casue some of them do really stupid things ( dont ask wat but i dont need to exagerate to make it interesting) and the might be pissed at me if they find the book

do you think a book would be a bit to strong if it had depression, parents pressureing you, self harm( not me ), bullying, drugs s*x and rock and roll ( i only do rock), police ( the police weren't after me), family issues, bitching and emotional and social teen problems like friends ship groups and other stuff

should i write it in my perspective ( the ignored kid who is watching it all happenen and trying not to get sucked up on it all while batteling her own problems and high expectations ) or the prespective of the person whos actually doing it all?

any sudjetions on book names ?

and can i mention bands and pop culture stuff?

by the way

this is not a girly book and only a few of the kids are bad wild childs most of them are good normal kids with normal lives and normal ambitions

  1. No,i don't think it would be strong, i think that would really be interesting for me to read (i'm 16). i think it would be something that would interest alot of teens becuase of the whole every1 pretty much goes through the same things as teens...ABout book names, you should wait till you have it finished and then read through it and think of names as you go through...

You could try both, writing from your position would probably be easiest, but if you want try to write it from the persons whose doing it and change your positin to different people (if you do it right, it makes an incredibly amazing book, i have read some that were amazing and others that you could barely tell when they switched people and that was annoying...but...it would make a great book! You'll have to email me the title when you figure it out and have it published...(try lulu.com)

And if you do the seperate points of view, then you could include facts about there lives by "omission" (like, for instance in the story i'm failing to write i say at one point "yeah, a cop that doesn't like guns, go figure" i hadn't said anything about her being a police officer until then, and even then i don't come right out and say shes a cop, i strongly imply it...you see what i mean?

Hope this helps, always happy to help a fellow writer!

Yes, of course you can mention bands and pop culture...although if you are truly going to get published nationally, you may want to get your publisher to ask for permission of anyone that you used in the book, just to be safe, but, i don't think its nessecary...

  2. I think...

Ask your friends if they don't mind having their inspiration in the novel.

If it has those strong aspect it would only be clasified young adult rather than older reader for example.

I personally find it easier to write in the main charactors persective .

Book Names...um...considering you are basically the main charactor there would be no one better than you to come up with the best name but I suggest perhaps...one word, make it strong and meaningful.

Sounds great. Keep it going and I will love to hear more about it in the future. Keep me informed!!

  3. First off, learn how to spell better (it's writing not writeing. Heaps of other typos as well ;)).

I think all those ideas would work well if you could fit them into the story. I would write the book the way YOU know best, although it may get a little boring if you are just watching from the outside lol.

The book name should be something like 'Life Pressure' or 'Runaway' etc.

I'm pretty sure you can mention bands etc as long as it is in a good context, otherwise you can get sued.

    Good luck.

  4. maybe something general like LIFE because everything you desribed occurs in a lot of peoples lives, especially in america. but first i "suggest" spell check.

  5. (the might be pissed at me if they find the book)

I think maybe you should ask them if you can write about them, but tell them that you will be changing their names and all..

(do you think a book would be a bit to strong if it had depression)

I think that you should include all of that in it, it would make it more interesting. Maybe some people could relate to some of the things you write about..

(should i write it in my perspective)

I think thats up to you.. but I like reading about the person who is actually doing the things, because then you could maybe go into more detail as you are the one doing it, not just the one watching..

Will we be able to see the finished product?

    Because this seems interesting :D

  6. all theses things are wat make a teen book well a teen book all so don't tell them its about them and use different names

    good look  mick out

  7. If you don't want that your friends be angry with you because wrote about them, then mix the acts. I think that it isn't enough to give new names, because everyone will recognise themselves. So, collect the stories you want to write in your novel and try to create new personalities. Imagine which kind of teens could have done similar things. Make stereotypes! In this way the things that your friends have done seem only to "inspire" you and you won't "peach on them".

  8. it should be from your perspective that way the reader has all the details and wont get confused. if u just mention that some of the kids have problems with drugs etc thats not to dark at all; if it gets really descriptive and the character is surrounded by it then that's a little much.when mentioning the friends can give a little background info-where the character is coming from, why they might act the way they do-but not in so much detail your friends will feel exposed. definetly include teen issues-that hopefully get resolved- people can relate to that sort of thing and if everything works out in the end readers will be able to draw from the characters approach to the problem and use it in their lives.-good luck with the book, it sounds interesting
