Question:

Image, but no sound on Wii?

I just got a new TV so I had to reconnect everything... I plugged the cables into the DVD player, which is hooked up to our sound system. So when I put it on, the Wii home screen is there, but there isn't any sound, either from the sound system OR the TV's speakers itself. I tried reconnecting it directly to the TV as well, but nothing happened there either...=/ Any clues as to what could be wrong? Anyhow, thanks a bunch, guys!

  1. You need to hook the composite cables (red and white) from your Wii into an open "Input" on the back of your receiver (red and white also). If you have a home theater system all of your components should be running through your receiver.

  2. Make sure you the Wii cables are connected to the DVD players Input correctly  (Yellow-Video, White and Red-Audio).   Since you're hooking up your Wii into your DVD player, you may have to turn on the DVD player to use your Wii.  Or it's possible there could be something wrong with your DVD's audio input.  Does your DVD player make any sound?

Try connecting your Wii directly to your TV to be sure everything works.  Then test your DVD player to make sure it works properly.  Try connecting something else to the DVD audio inputs to make sure they work (an Ipod, another video game system, another DVD player, etc)
