  1. Hi, I'm guessing the model of your camcorder as being the JVC GR-D33U.

If I'm right then there is a small connection similar to a USB connection on the camcorder. This is a Firewire (IEEE1394) connection. Buy a firewire cable and PCI card (but check first because a Vista PC may well already have this connection build in.

Connect one end to the camcorder and the other to the PC. Turn the camcorder on and open Windows MovieMaker - from here you will be able to download the footage (at high speed) straight onto the PC.

    Should solve the problem.

    Good luck

    Tony

  2. ok

    1) Find out what kind of FireWire port your camcorder has there are 2 types 6 pin or 4 pin, have a look in your 'user manual'

Other common names include DV OUT, Computer, 1394 or i.LINK port.

    it usually looks like this

    2) Now check if your PC has a Firewire Port again it might be a 6 pin or 4 pin, although 4 pin is mostly common on Notebooks

    usually look like this

    or

    3) if you don't have a FireWire Port then you can either put in a Card yourself...which means opening the PC up and Installing it into a spare PCI Port

    which look like this

There is no other way on a desktop of getting FireWire, although Notebook owners can buy a simple Plug-in Card which slots into a spare PCMCIA slot

    4) Once you have all that You need a FireWire Cable according to your slots  4 pin to 6 pin   or  4 to 4    6 to 6

Its mostly 4 pin to 6 pin cable

Connect up start up PC and once into Vista, Start up you Camcorder then use Image Mixers Import mode to transfer Video to PC

    Phew !

Hope thats a bit more clear
