  1. .

    Excellent Q.

I don't live in the UK any more and have Star Sports, which is OKish. The presenters are knowledgable and generally on the money.....Steve Slater may be able to challenge Rosbif with his knowledge...on the other hand....nah

I always liked Brundle, but I'm not up to date with current presenters.

I'd like to see previous GPs from different eras as well as a build up to the race proper. That, and some technical stuff, comparing driver styles, set ups, roads to glory, etc....there's plenty of archive out there.

The BBC would do well to take some notes from here!

  2. Broadcast grass growing, it's more entertaining.

  3. I would disband the BBC.

  4. you mean the bit that comes at the beginning? i was wondering about why they tend to use women for that to lure the make audience. Silly! I don't like the way car manufacturers think its okay to use women like that. I've seen an ad recently with women being the main focus of the car ad than the car itself. silly really. cant remember the brand.

  5. Easy just get rid of James Allen.

    No more adverts yippy.

  6. For 2009 I'd Bring Back Murray Walker, And Hire David Coulthard Since He's Retiring...Also All Practice,Qualifying,Test and Race Session Will Be Broadcast On 3 Channels... One In-car Cam For Race Leader, One Normal, And One For All Replays =D

  7. In america, We watch F1 on Speed

But I beleive they have the same layout around the World

But I like it, but for me the Lap counter gets confusing at times

  8. Get rid of Steve Rider and his weird wobbly hand!!! Has anyone else noticed how he holds the microphone in a really, really strange way?!

Apart from that as long as they keep Martin Brundle and Louise Goodman I'm not that fussed. Oh other than they could cut out some of the gibberish at the beginning of the programme to get more post-race interviews, etc.

And of course as everyone says - thank god for no more adverts!!

  9. Obviously no advert breaks, seen as it's on the BBC!

I would keep Martin Brundle and Louise Goodman as both do a good job. Trying to get Murray Walker in for a few specials or his own couple of minutes each race would be brilliant as well! I'd probably reduce the pre-race to just half an hour and add half an hour to the post-race so that it can be properly analysed. (Also it means that it the grand prix is late it's less likely to s***w up the whole days schedule.)

Oh, and obviously if they could focus on some drivers other then Hamilton a bit more, that'd be nice.

  10. The fact there are no ad breaks is enough.

I don't care about the rest really.

But the BBC do a better job of sport.

ITV should not be allowed to cover sport. It should all be on the BBC move all the soaps to ITV. Then all I have to do is block the channell.

  11. the biggest improvement is automatic,no adverts.a lot of its difficult to alter drastically as the bbc and itv now have no influence over the pictures shown, the only time you see the brits is with their own cameras.

johhny herbert as a presenter, martin brundell still in commentary box.they will probably nick a commentator from radio or from other racing series.Prehaps suzi perry will appear

  12. Good Q

Its a given that by never hearing the phrase' We'll be right back, after this break' will please the Formula One watching community no end! Counting down the days. . .

I'd definitely scrap the hour long build up before the race that ITV currently have. They stretch material fit for 20 minutes over an intolerable 45 minutes! Hint CUT TO THE CHASE.

It would be nice for them to concentrate on former British World Champions. OK, we all know of Mansell, Hill, Stewart, Hunt but what of Clark, Surtees, Hawthorn etc? All had stories to tell (and allowing for archive footage available) would be fascinating to see the comparison between winning a championship over 11 races to the 5676230 drivers have today.

Either that or mini season reviews, it would be beyond cool to see some of the old dangerous (read: b-r-RILLIANT (say it like Murray!)) tracks being pounded by those beastly machines with those crazy old drivers! Now THAT would pull the boy/girl racers in who can't bear modern F1

I would like to see Suzi Perry and/or Louise Goodman on the grid as Brundle's been there, done it got the scars cynicism is getting to me a tad..Suzi's one for the bikes but, we'll see on that one.

Here's hoping they do a good job.. .frankly, they could have the blandest 3hr long build up with Brundle pounding the grid and focus on every foreign world champion to date-  I don't care  as there will be NO ADVERTS!!!!

Oh and showing it on BBC1 too all the time would be grand!

  13. Definitely have to retain Brundle. In an ideal world get rid of James Allen, but it won't happen. My gran knows more about F1 than Mark Blundell, but he is has good insights into driver psychology because of his experience. Steve Rider is brilliant, and Louise Goodman is quite renound and close to the Paddock.

Would be great if they had a lot of technical insights and more of Martin style guides as they were brilliant on ITV. Its quite difficult, because F1 fans want information on technical developments, driving techniques and general geeky stuff where newcomers want the basics and stats to bring them up to speed. It will be important to strike a good balance. Hopefully no anorexic grid girls with 10 layers of foundation on. I can't believe the FIA hasn't moved on from that.
