  1. Your salary is a fixed payment. It is based on rank not job. You get a raise every time you get promoted.

There is actually a MOS for computer networking in the US Army. I think it is 25b. look it up at goarmy.com

  2. If salary is any part of your consideration in the military don't join. Salaries in the military aren't going to be anywhere near what you'd make in the private sector. If youd like doing it to serve your country great but your not going to do it just for the money.

  3. Pay is based on your grade and years in service, and is the same regardless of service or job. There are a few exceptions, like working in hazardous areas/in theater, or being on an aircraft, watercraft, submarine, or parachute duty. You also get a housing allowance that changes from place to place. You get a food allowance as well. Links about those pays and the basic pay chart are at the link below.

Computer networking would transfer most readily to an electronic/software maintenance, repair, or operation job. All the services have these, though traditionally the AF is seen a the most "technical". All the careers listed are for enlisted personnel, as you don't yet have the 4-year degree required to be an officer.

Note: Many careers in the operation, repair, and maintenance of avionics, aircraft, ground, and watercraft electrical systems, and standalone electrical systems are not included in the following lists.

    Air Force:

    Airborne Mission Systems

    Aircraft Electrical and Environmental System

    Airfield Systems

    Communications-Computer Systems Control

    Electrical Power Production

    Electrical Systems

    Ground Radar Systems

    Ground Radio Communications

    Network Infrastructure

    Satellite, Wideband And Telemetry Systems

    Technical Application

    Space Systems Operations

    Voice Network

    Army:

    Network Switching Systems Operator/Maintainer (25F)

Military Intelligence (MI) Systems Maintainer/Integrator (35T)

    Microwave Systems Operator/Maintainer (25P)

    Multi-channel Transmission Systems Operator/Maintainer (25Q)

    Network Switching Systems Operator/Maintainer (25F)

    Radio Operator/Maintainer (25C)

    Information Technology Specialist (25B)

    Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainer (25S)

    Signal Support Systems Specialist (25U)

Nodal Network Systems Operator Maintainer (25N)

    Marine Corps:

  4. IDK, BUT IF U WANT MILITARY, THEN U WANT THE MARINES!

  5. First off, the pay is a fixed payment, however, the bonus can be bigger for you seeing you have college credits.

Second, I would advise going Navy and most likely heading towards anything in the ATF (Advanced Technical Field). Which includes AECF, Any CT (Crypto Tech) field, NUKE (Nuclear Engineering), Aviation. All these have a lot of little ratings per subject.

You have a greater oppurtunity as far as educational benefits goes you can go to college for free and work in the Navy at the same time, great medical benefits as well.

The Air Force is also good, but the Navy also has Aviation. In my opinion the Navy is what it is, all you got, and all you want.

If you want more information on specific ratings (jobs) head to http://www.mynavyonline.com im KJC88 there and you can ask all the Navy questions you would like and read a lot on the Navy.

The range of salaries, if you go say AECF in the Navy you can enter as an E-2 depending on your college credits which then your salary would be about $1300 a month, and your bonus can be up to $16,000 if possible with the college credits and you will receive that after you finish your schooling.

If you go NUKE, you will enter as an E-3 which is around $1590 a month (not included tax deduction and the plus allowances on food, housing if applicable, etc). And youre bonus can be another from $8,000 to $20,000 depending on when you ship out and what credits you have or degree with any.

Also, if you go civilian after wards, say if you do NUKE, civilian wise you can make from $90,000 to $100,000 a year. And the other ATF jobs will get you good money as well.

Talk to a Navy recruiter for more information as well, find one in your area, http://www.navy.com/findarecruiter

    Good luck Future Sailor!

  6. 35T Military Intelligence Systems Maintainer

currently a critical MOS and can get a good enlistment bonus.

47 week AIT at Ft. Huachuca though (Huachuca isn't that bad, you hate it when you are there and miss it when you leave.)

Bravoco 305th MI BN is home to the 35T in AIT. Very lenient AIT after about 6 weeks if you have a spouse you can live off post because of the length of the schooling.

However you need to be able to get a TS clearance.

Civilian pay on teh outside is very nice with this job, or any Military Intel job.
