Immigrate to Norway?

Question

I'd like to know how difficult it is to permanently immigrate to Norway. Here are some personal details.

I'm a white male of English ethnicity, 6'2", auburn hair, blue eyes. No known hereditary mental or physical illnesses in the family. I'm 22 years old. I have a BA 1st class joint honours (language and history) in Anglo-Saxon and Old Norse, an MA Distinction in Old Norse, both from excellent Universities. I have just been accepted for a PhD place at a Norwegian University. I speak semi-fluent Norwegian, and fluent Icelandic.

It is my understanding that a PhD takes at least three years to complete, after this I would like to apply for permanent residence/citizenship.

Any advise, anecdotes, opinions, et cetera would be appreciated. Thank you.
