Question:

Immigrating to Canada, would like some advice on which town to consider?

Me and my wife are planning on immigrating to Canada in 4 years. We both have specific jobs, and I was hoping somebody could recommend some good towns/cities for us to look further into.

I'm a qualified Building Surveyor, so I imagine I should be close to Toronto and Montreal, possibly even consider Vancouver. However my wife has just finished a Fashion Journalism degree and wants to be in an area where she can be a part of that whole scene.

We need to be near a city, however we love the country so idealy would like to be on the outskirts so we can travel to work.

Sorry if this is one long rant,

and a big thank you to anyone who can help.

  1. Vancouver is beautiful, near the ocean, has mild weather. With China and India coming into power in the world, it will be increasing in import export commerce. The variety of properties is greater than most other cities. West Vancouver is a world class "suburb".

  2. I definitely agree with the Toronto area. Ontario is a nice province, with nice climate. I would go for one of the suburbs around Toronto if I were you.

  3. Well, given your circumstances you need to be near big city.

So your choice narrows to Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Your wife is more likely to find such a job in Toronto, as it's the biggest city in Canada. Than you probably want to live in Toronto suburbs. So I'd advise Oakville or Milton - they both west of Toronto and there is GO train running from these towns to the Toronto downtown.

  4. Oakville, Ontario. Very close to Toronto and great for young couples and families. I Loved it there.

  5. The Greater Toronto Area is where the jobs are. Greater Vancouver is where you live for milder weather and great lifestyle. However, Vancouver is tougher for finding jobs than Toronto.
