  1. Hi David

What you got here is a clear example for a Labor Certification. Meaning, that if an employer is looking for someone in your line of work you may apply.

The problem is, that you may have competition in the US, because 40 Americans and Legal Residents may apply for the same job, and the employer has to hire the American or Resident first.

Now, if you are a car spray painter but you can also "install a lab in the car" that reduces the chances of someone else applying for the position because of your 'Extraordinary Ability'.

I would recommend for you to contact some body shops in the US and see what they are looking for. If you know to do something else besides spray painting, but you can also "design tires" your chances may increase to obtain that job.

    Best of Luck!

  2. first off, most people know ZERO about US immigration law, so don't believe everything you hear. Just apply for a work visa, people do it all the time.

  3. You are not going to get a work VISA in the US (or Canada for that matter) as a car spray painter.

You will need to be a "highly skilled" employee to get an employer to sponsor you. Think nurse, petroleum engineer, etc. At least a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience in your discipline to be even considered.

Here is a list of the "specialty occupations" for an H1-B (work VISA) for the US:

Immigration to Canada is based on a "points systems". View the following link to see if you even have a chance to apply:

    Edit:

David, take the test and see if you are qualified. And I'm not so sure how "in demand" car spray painters are in Canada with GM shutting down their Ontario Assembly plants.

  4. Options are:

minimum $5000 for a company to sponsor you, so you've got to be top dog AND have them willing to invest $5000 in you.

Secondly it's a case of family, mum, dad, wife etc will permit you to live with them.

Thirdly it's business investment of a minimum of $75,000 into aUS business - and you can move in straight away.

Lastly, education. University, you'd need to look to join an "IB" school (International Bachelorette) in the US and get accepted.

Remember, NO ONE can decide your fate in moving to the USA. It's like a job interview, each and every person is unique, and it's HUGELY contradicting system so NO ONE on Yahoo will be able to answer you. Only the embassies of the two nations from and to

  5. If you're looking for something in the Auto industry, you really need to go to California. The car scene is so big here, that it's not just weekend hobbies for people, it's a life style. There's people that are really into cars throughout the whole US, but it's probably the weather in CA that brings out the best in people. You can work on your car and drive it all year round. There's car shows all year round to! The auto paint industry doesn't really advertise unless it's the big corporate companies, and you don't really want to work there. You need to work at the local custom paint and body shop that everybody in the car scene knows about. My suggestion is get to CA first, and then talk to people, go to a couple of shows and let people know what you know.

Stick to doing what you love doing! and what you are good at. Maybe one day you'll have your own custom car painting show on TV. Look at England's Russel Mitchel of Exile Cycles. He had a good show on TV for a while, but he's still making the big bucks by building bikes in Los Angeles.

    GOOD  LUCK!

  6. hi..you have chosen a good skill there.  my fiance has worked as a car spray painter for 15 years now and we are moving to toronto in canada next year through his job.  I would also rather go to the usa but its alot harder to get into and i have family there and its no easier!  we are going to toronto as its only 3 hours drive from my family in the usa.  The skill your training in is in the top 40 that are needed in canada..after a year or so workign in canada you have a greater chance of being accepted into the usa.  however when applying for canada or the usa you have to go via a point system and score at least 67 points.  the longer you have worked in that skill the more points you get so you may struggle at the moment!  also my aunt in the usa said 5 of her friends are moving to canada as they feel its a better life then the usa so maybe we are making the right decision. however your best chance maybe trying to a apprenticeshop over there.  good luck...only 8 months til we move over.  cant wait!

  7. Go and work there on a visa first and keep renewing until your boss sponsors you to become an American citizen.

  8. What I can tell you for sure is that in the USA there is no shortage of artisans. However, in Canada and Australia there is a shortage. There always has been. Construction, plumbers, electricians etc etc are in demand. My friend qualified as a locksmith just so that he could go and live in Canada. He's there now. In the USA, forget it.

The thing you wonder about in the USA is this. If you come from a friendly western country, a great ally to the USA like the UK, it does not matter what you are, unless a scientist or medical professional, you won't get accepted. Yet the country is full of Eastern Europeans, Russians, Georgians etc, with no particular skill, all living there with green cards, somehow. Go figure???

By the way, my brother is US citizen, his wife is american, my nieces are american. He lives in California, I lived there for a year myself. Decided that USA is a great place for a holiday, but to live there, it sucks. Canada is much better, but best of all is Aussie. Go there, More friendly, more relaxed, etc etc

  9. Okay..

U have the wrong info..Its not that easy.

Yes u will need a sponser and just cause u have one doesnt mean ur papers will get approved through immigration.

Second, U cant work here without ur working papers and that itself is a very, very long process. It took my now husband over 8 years to get his.

  10. Why not Australia. Do you not realize how fun that country is? I live in America, but we are getting so dang cluttered over here is sucks. Austraila is AWESOME.

  11. There are too much immigrants here and you cannot make a difference in this country, so GET OUT.

  12. Computer science or Engineer (either one) are you best bet.
