Question:

Immune system went from good to horrible?

Ok I have had a pretty bad immune system for 2 years. I'm 29 and I get colds around 8-10 times a year and they're pretty bad. I used to have a great immune system. I had mono 3 years ago but my body shook it off so well at the time. I didnt even miss a day of work. Now, I would be out for a month if I had mono.

I wash my hands often, take a multivitamin and 1000 mg of Vitamine C daily. I exercise, eat well and try to eat several servings of fruit a day. What can I do to build back my immune system? I'm looking for a natural remedy/supplement that I can take everyday. Thanks.

  1. well, instead of diagnosing yourself with "immune system problems" and asking strangers on the internet what to do about it, maybe you should actually have your immune system tested?

And not by a naturopath or other sCAM artist....they don't know what the h**l they are talking about, though it's sadly entertaining to listen to them preach.  Get a complete blood count, immunoglobulins, complement factor.  Most naturopaths won't even know what those are...they'll probably do that stupid "muscle test" to tell you what your problem is.

True immune deficiencies are actually uncommon, and usually have far more serious illnesses than just more than your share of colds this year...which is all you are describing.

(eg HIV/AIDS is a true immune deficiency disease.)

Also don't buy into the sCAM nonsense about "boosting" your immune system.  Other than a healthy diet and regulare exercise, and plenty of sleep...there is no such thing as an "immune booster"  (Which isn't to say that you won't find lots of people who will sell you something, but that's another story)

  2. or Instead of listening to these people that think the pill pushing doctors know how to heal someone.  Let me tell you some things to do beside making the quacks rich.

Start by getting Ester-C for vitamin C and raise the dosage to 3000 mgs. for a couple of weeks, also take some Vitamin E it works with Vit, C.  Eat some fresh broccoli or drink about 4 cups of green tea each day.  Also take about 4 pills a day of Nordic Naturals Fish oil each day.  Stay with the Multi vitamin with these other things I have told you.

In about thirty days you can back off on your dosages to about half.   Good luck my friend.

  3. yes, i agree about the probiotics. To have a strong immune system we need to start with digestion and probiotics are a must. I also use "Standard Processing "vitamin all natural and organically grown. Only get thru chiropractors or well centers. Excellent have not gotten sick since taking this. I take 3 aday and on a day need 6 when feel alil like my resistance is low. Oh the vit. is called Catylyn. excellent!!!!

  4. I get few colds and flu and I put it down to Antibiotic's not allowing the body to build it's own Antibodies.

My wife would get 5 or 6 cold and flu a year, since she has stopped getting Antibiotic shots, she has not had a cold  or the flu for over 10 years.

The other thing you need at least 4 nights  of eight hours sleep for your body to start healing it's self. GOOD LUCK.

  5. Besides taking extra vitamin C every day (which you are doing) you could also take colloidal silver and garlic oil (odourless capsules) every day.  They are both natural antibiotics that will boost your immune system.  Colloidal silver is supposed to be capable of killing 650 different pathogens.

Echinacea is only suitable for short term use and long term use may actually weaken your immune system.

  6. you should really go to the doctor's office and have them do a white blood cell count. There could be something going on with your own natural hormones that are preventing your body from producing adequate WBC's  to ward off infections.

  7. You need garlic and oregano oil.It really works buy capsules like oregamax which is a mixture of the two also plain garlic oil capsules are not exspensive.I have a weak immune system and it has been helping me immensly.I too have had mono as well as having bronchitus for 5 months straight last year.I just started this a few months ago and it helps alot.Avoid dairy if your sensitive and switch to soymilk.

  8. You might look into pro-biotics.  If you've ever been on an antibiotic, you could have killed those too, the mono could have done that also.  I take a supplement that comes in a morning and and evening supplement that has lots of different pro-biotics. (Daily-Dophilous)   You could check on the internet about how important the health in the intestines is.

My very favorite is Bio-K Plus.  I used to take it alot, but now I only buy a flat (15 containers) once a year in the fall, before the cold season and all hits really hard.  It's a bit pricey, but when you buy the flat, there is usually a discount.  I like the plain, milk type variety.  Since it has to be refrigerated, I special order it.  (My holistic doctor recommended this particular brand.)

  9. Wealthy people have been taking silver for centuries to boost their immune system ( that's where the term born with a silver spoon in your mouth come from) and it has a good reputation to work. Here is a link to the one I use: http://BestSilverSolution.info

I hope This helps! Take Care!
