Question:

Immunizations @ age 16

I am 16 years old and haven't had any immunizations since I was probably 8 or 9 years old, since I was homeschooled. I'm going to private school this year and have to get them and I was wondering how many I'll have to get? Will I get like 7 or 8 needles? Does it hurt that bad? I know I've had chicken pox, measles, mumps, etc shots in the past but I'm not sure about the others. Which ones are mandatory by DHEC? How many should I get?

Thank you

  1. You DON"T need to have them done AT ALL!! It's called an exemption. All states have medical exemptions, all but 2 or 3 have religious exemptions (religion is defined as a strong personal belief) and a few states have philosophical exemptions.

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!  You don't NEED any of those shots!!  Do the research first and if you feel like you must have them, then do it, but atleast you did the research.

Read the book, "Vaccines: Are they Really Safe and Effective?" By Neil Z. Miller and decide for yourself. It's only about 100 pages with charts. You can buy it off amazon.com for cheap and the information ins invaluable!!

****It quotes data from the Center for Disease Control, American Medical Association & numerous medical journals and reports such as the New England Journal of Medicine. It has over 900 references to reknown medical publications and/or medical professionals.****

I am reading it and I am confident in my decision.

He also has a book called "Vaccine Safety Manual: For Concerned Families and Health Professionals" that I will be reading next.

  2. I'm assuming you'll need your polio, BCG and tetanus. You may need a measles. But no they don;t hurt. a small pin prick in the arm. You will probs have them spread out and not all at once.
