Imogen Bankier dissatisfied with her performance in Mixed Doubles final of 2011 World Championships
Scotland’s talented shuttler, Imogen Bankier, is not happy with her performance in the Mixed Doubles final of the 2011 World Championships, on Sunday, August 14, at the Wembley Indoor Arena in London, England. Bankier, with the partnership of England’s Chris
Adcock lost to Chinese shuttlers in the title match.
Despite playing incredible badminton in the whole tournament, the Scottish-English couple failed to show even the flash of their brilliance in the final match against the Chinese players, who were far ahead in their skill and technique.
Bankier expressed his views about the final match of the World Championships by saying that her performance in the match was poor, as she could not play up to the expectations of her fans.
She said, "To be honest, on Sunday I did feel quite disappointed. I was disappointed with my own performance. I thought it was a shame to end on what was quite a poor performance from us. I think since then I've tried to reflect on the whole week. We had
some terrific matches, we had some great wins, we actually played some amazing badminton - the best badminton we've played.”
She further added, "I just think we peaked a little bit early. To be honest, the people that won were worthy world champions, they were a lot better than us on the day.”
However, Bankier is determined to play better badminton as she has selected the sport as her future profession. She knows very well that she has some flaws in her game and she is ready to work hard to get rid of the deficiencies in her play.
The World Number 18 Bankier and Adcock delivered a wonderful performance and entertained the home crowd by playing world-class badminton against the best shuttlers in the game. Now, the couple has a bigger target in the form of the 2012 Olympic Games and
after playing extremely well at the World Championships, they will be among the top favourites for the title at the Games, which will be held at the same venue in London.
