Imogen Bankier positive to secure a medal in 2012 London Olympics – Badminton News

Mixed Doubles expert Imogen Bankier is going to represent England in London Olympics and she is confident to fetch a medal in the mega event starting from July 28, 2012.
The Scottish lady teams up with British shuttler Chris Adcock and the duo holds the 10th spot in world rankings.
Though, they will participate in London Games as unseeded pair but still Bankier believes that they have potential to defy all odds and lock the honour.
The 24-year-old shuttler scaled down the importance of tournament rankings and stated that only time will tell who deserves to be called a real champion.
She also claimed that they will relish full benefits of the home ground and crowd to secure respectable spot on victory stand.
Bankier said, "We're not one of the top four seeds so there's not that real weight of expectation. If things go our way, and with the home support I think things could go our way, we could get a medal."
Last year, World Number 10 duo grabbed all the attention by powering their way to the final round of the World Championships.
Though, they lost to Chinese team Zhang Nan-Zhao Yunlei but still this silver medal earned a lot of respect and admiration for them.
Bankier is fully aware that the Chinese campaigners again will be the biggest hurdle as she admitted that all the opposing teams will come with well-thought-out strategies against them.
She said, "A lot of pairs are prepared for us and they've done their homework and that's something that we found the rest of the season (after the championships)."
At the moment, both British Mixed Doubles campaigners are stretching themselves to the full in central training camp and they will be on course for Olympic Village on July 23.
The badminton queen is satisfied with the preparations as she declared that they have the potential to stun any top ranked team in this prestigious event.
Bankier said, "We've trained harder and become a better and more three dimensional pairing. I think that's where we can hurt people now rather than the underdog factor."
For the record, Adcock-Bankier earned the right to represent England by surviving a long and tense qualification tussle.
They unseated National number two couple Nathan Robertson-Jenny Wallwork in this game to take the throne.
