Impact and opinion on fed backing of freddie and fannie?

now that the feds are backing fan and fred, what would the economical impacts be (of US.. stock, interest rate, etc wise)? and what is your opinion on the fed's decision to support fan and fred?

i'm making a presentation on this decision and i need views and impacts on the US.. thank you in advance
