Impeller vanes which direction?

I am installing a new impeller in my mercruiser 120 and the old one was so broke up you can tell which way the vanes were pointing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the impeller on the motor works just like a giant s***w. It is a s***w. so which way does the shaft turn (in forward) ?? then you get an impeller that ''screws'' into the water in that direction.

It doesn't matter, if the blades are already slightly favoring one way or the other then you don't have a new impeller. If it is new the blades should be straight out and it will not matter a direction when you put it on.  Be sure to remove all pieces of the old impeller or they can ruin the new one and/or plug something and cause overheating.  Also you should always replace the gaskets whenever  you take the water pump housing off.

Put dish soap on it when installing it then it will turn either direction> Also you need to find all the pieces of the impeller or it will make a restriction and overheating will happen>
