Imperial Circus favourite for Grolsch Handicap Hurdle
Imperial Circus has the best chances for winning the Grolsch Handicap Hurdle at Exeter in England on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. The triumphant horse will walk away with a cash prize of £4,549.
The going will be good in the 2 mile, 7 furlong and 110 yard race, which is scheduled to start at 15:00 GMT, and a total of seven runners will be seen in action. Their names are as follows: Imperial Circus, Counting House, Soulard, Teenage Kicks, Al Co,
Supreme De Paille and Orvita.
Oscarslad would have been the eighth runner in the event, but he has been ruled out of action due to an injury. He was considered to be one of the top contenders for victory, as his record over hurdles is very good.
However, Imperial Circus might now win the race comfortably, as he is a quality runner as well. He will definitely attract a lot of bets from the punters in the absence of Oscarslad today.
The six-year-old gelding has taken part in six races over hurdles, winning just once. Although his strike rate is not much impressive, he has still won the confidence of the bookies, as he is the best compared to the rest of the pack.
The Philip Hobbs’ trainee has not been in good form recently, as he finished fifth in his most recent outing. He was up against some quality runners back then, thus struggled to fight for victory in the end.
Imperial Circus will be ridden by veteran jockey, Richard Johnson, who has got a terrific record over hurdles. He has won 394 of such events at a very good strike rate and it will be difficult to stop him from finishing on top of the table.
On the other hand, Soulard seems to have a very good momentum at the moment, as he managed to win his most recent race at Exeter. He has participated in 12 races over hurdles, winning just one of them.
The David Pipe’s trained gelding will be partnered by Tom Bellamy, who is relatively new to the sport and has won just three races over hurdles.
The rest of the horses will find it hard to fight for victory, as the conditions at Exeter will work in favour of Imperial Circus more than anyone.
