Imperial Guest – A quality runner who has now past his prime
Imperial Guest seems to have past his prime form, as he has been struggling for consistency for the past couple of seasons. However, the seasoned runner has been a wonderful performer and has entertained his fans worldwide for the past many years.
The six-year-old gelding made his debut in competitive racing in May 2008 and was unable to make a strong impression in his first ever race. He was given a starting price of 14 to 1 back then and was expected to struggle, as there were some very good runners
up against him.
Despite that, he managed to perform well and finished in a decent fourth place. Although his team would have wanted him to finish in the top three, yet his performance was more than enough to prove what he could achieve in the future.
It did not take much long before Imperial Guest brought up his maiden victory. He was priced 22 to 1 in the second race of his career and was once again not expected to be fighting at the front. However, he displayed extremely good speed and took the lead
towards the end of the event.
Overall, the George Margarson’s trainee gained a lead of 3¾ lengths in the race he won, which was quite encouraging for his team. He went onto win a couple of more events in 2008 and it appeared that he would have a terrific future.
However, Imperial Dancer’s son was unable to deliver good results with consistency and he did not win any event in 2009. His form was poor throughout the year and his confidence seemed to be shattered.
Despite that, Imperial Guest started off the next season on a high, winning his first race that year. His team expected him to continue delivering decent results like that, but he was unable to do so.
Another season passed and the John Guest Racing’s owned runner managed to bring his fifth victory at the start of 2011. Since then, he has been trying to find some form, but things have not worked out well for him.
The 2012 season has also not been ideal for Imperial Guest. He did find some form in the past couple of events, which has given hope to his fans. However, it is not likely for him to perform at a similar level he did at the start of his career.
