This race took place over a distance of seven furlongs and was contended by race-horses of age three and above.
After claiming the race, champion colt Imperial Rome has now returned to the turf surface after an amazing all-weather endeavour.
The three year old winner, Imperial Rome trains under the care of famed trainer David Wachman. He has to his credit list, the victories at Dundalk that was run over a Polytrack.
The second place was bagged by the race-horse Glor Na Mara, meanwhile the third place finisher was the 6-4 favourite contender Dubawi Star.
Most of the sports analysts and all those involved in the business of horse-racing were expecting a lot from the trainee of the famed trainer Aidan O’ Brien. Nonetheless, Imperial Rome did not find it very hard to hold him off. Meanwhile, Zabaradaj finished
the race in a disappointing second place and Alexander Pope could just manage the third spot.
When the trainer of the winning race-horse, Wachman was approached by the correspondents for a post race interview, he was reported as saying, “He is a grand little fellow and will head next for the French Guineas. We liked him last year but he missed a
bit of time – the French Guineas round a bend might suit him and it was always our idea to go there.”
The other major event that took place at Carragh race-course on Monday was the Grade 3 Athlas Stakes. This race was claimed by the champion filly Emiyna in a fantastic head-to-head competition with Lolly For Dolly. The three year old fillies gave a hard
fought battle against each other.
Those who witnessed the race have been reported to say that as the race began, Emiyna was one of the last few contenders, but she slowly built up her pace and then maintained the lead till the last length to take an exciting victory.
