Can anyone give me some examples of positive and negative legacies(occurences that happened then that are still remembered today) of imperialism by european nations in africa and asia(india)? And, I guess this is more opinionated, but do you think that the European nations that imperialized Africa and Asia are partly responsible for the way African and Asian countries are today?

  1. That whole weakening Africa beyond repair thing? Yah, umm, Europe is sorry for that.

  2. Yes, the Europeans are almost entirely to blame for the mess that was created there. I say almost because, don't forget, the United States was also involved in the land grab during the 1800's. They are also responsible and just like the Europeans, they do not take the blame. None of the countries have paid that much attention to Africa and Asia (except for China) because so much of the media attention is on the Middle East and the primaries. The help those countries recieve are mainly private organizations. Most of the United State's money goes toward the war.

But a positive legacy of the imperialism of India would be Gandhi. If Brittian had not occupied India, Gandhi would not have had a reason to raise up his fellow countrymen and become a legend with his nonviolent approach to foreign rule and Martin Luther King jr. would not of had a role model to follow during the 1960's.
