I got the Implannon put in around 5 weeks ago.

I had my period when they put it in and now i am suffering a lot of spotting. Like a lot. Every day there is a little blood when i wipe.

Does this mean its not for me or will it settle down??

Ps the Implannon is the rod they put in your arm used as contraception that works for 3 years. Please help, i dont wanna gotot the doc for no reason.

  1. I also have an Implannon and I occasionally experience some bleeding/spotting but it clears up within a couple of days.  If you have been experiencing bleeding for 5 weeks I would just check with your Dr, but I would imagine that it is normal as long as you are not experiencing any other side effects.

  2. 23.7% of women have Implanon removed because of problems with bleeding.

  3. I've had implanon for a year and occasionally get some spotting, it's completely normal. If you've only had it in for 5 weeks you need to give it a bit more time. My GP told me it'd take about 3 months for my body to adjust. I'd give it a bit more time, see how you go, let your body adjust and if you're still concerned in a few more weeks, see your GP.
