Implant and the pill ???

ive got the implant in and its all good for me but my friend had it in and shes got prolonged bleeding i was just wondering what pill the doctors give you to take to stop it is it just the normal contraceptive pill ??

  1. You can't take the pill with the implant. All women should be carefully counselled before they agree to have an implant. One of the things it is important to know in advance is that most women will experience dysfunctional uterine bleeding for the first 3 months on this type of progesterone only contraception and a few may bleed for the first 6 months. The options are to use a drug like cyclotron  or to abandon the implant, ( not one of the methods I favour anyway.)
