Question:

Implant tooth + broken root ?

the root of one of my tooth is chipped. I know that in order to get an implant tooth, I need to get it pulled out. I can't help but wonder if the dentist tries to pull the tooth out and only half of the root comes out and the other half gets stuck.

Does anybody know what would happen if half of it does get stuck?

many thanks

  1. We go in and remove the broken root too. There is nothing to worry about...we are prepared for such things and can take care of it IF it happens.  I working in a periodontal office in which we extract teeth, remove fractured roots and place implants all the time.

Just be sure to follow the doctor's post-operative instructions after the surgery and you shouldn't have any problems. (Ex. - No smoking, drinking through straws or spitting for a few days after surgery. Avoid foods with small seeds, spicy foods, etc)

  2. they pull that part out too
