Question:

Implantable Loop Recorder w/ Dx of PAF?

I had an Implantable Loop Recorder placed in December, 2007, it finally revealed that I have Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation. However I was not aware of the AF. The first download was negative, the second download was negative, and the download I just had done showed: One sustained episode that lasted 15 minutes with a heart rate of 230 bpm, and multiple other episodes that lasted 2-3 minutes. The monitor was implanted due to syncopal episodes - one of which resulted in a frontal lobe bleed.

I have also been diagnosed with severe hypovolumenia.

I am already on Plavix, due to a stent that restenosed in my LAD.

I also take metropolol.

Has anyone had this type of experience? How were you treated? And did it resolve your syncope?

  1. Well I have had  many Holter monitors.  I  do have an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator, that records any events that occur whether it be an A-fib, V-tach,paced,received therapy or if I'm over volumed with fluids.  Perhaps your heart medications need to be readjusted.  There maybe a  new clot forming within the stent, has that been checked?   Perhaps the Dr. need to check to see if Plavix is really doing its job
