Question:

Implantation bleeding or normal period? Could I be pregnant either way?

When I went to the doctors to tell them I had a positive pregnancy test, they asked me when the first day of my last period was. When I told them, I wasnt sure if it was a period or implantation bleeding. This is because at the beginning I spotted for a few days, and then the next few days I bled normally for about the average length of my period. I wasnt so sure what it was, because I have never spotted before my period before. Could this have been implantation bleeding?

I tested and got a positive pregnancy test. This was 2 weeks AFTER my 'period' or implantation(or whatever it was lol) and I got a blood test today to confirm either way, but wont know the results for a few days. And also, i had s*x 3 times the week before, so im pretty sure i didnt have a miscarriage, but i could be wrong.

  1. I'm not quite sure about all your dates and if you are or were pregnant, but two things:

    - Yes, you can have bleeding that mimics a period after conceiving

    - No matter what your doctor says, do NOT get a DnC.  (even if they can't find a heartbeat) You would not believe the stories I have heard...doctors telling a mother that the baby is not growing or not finding a heart beat, the mother ignores that doctor's recommendation and goes on to have a healthy, normal baby...

  2. I never heard of implantation bleeding, however I did experience some slight bleeding at a time when I expected by period, it didnt arrive so I took a preganacy test two weeks later...well guess what it said...positive.

Iam pretty sure you can get those pregnancy test kits at supermarkets and they tell you straight away whether you are pregnant or not.

  3. confusing...i dont know how you could bleed like a normal period that last like a normal period and not have a miscarriage in the really early stages. but everybody is different i guess. i wouldnt call that implantation though its too heavy. you might of had an early miscarriage as the hcg hormone can stay up in your body for a couple of weeks. may i ask were you cramping at all?
