Implantation spotting or was it caused by the smear test?

Question

Hello everyone, I have been TTC 10 months. I am due a period on Sunday. I had a smear test yesterday and afterward had some spotting. Not red blood, but brownish (AF) blood. With this I had some period pains. This morning all is gone and I have no more spotting and no more period pain.

Could this be implantation or do you think the smear caused it?

I know no one can say for sure but opinions would be great.

It could so easily be either!  Smears can sometimes cause a small amout of spotting from "abrasion" of the cervix, and can cause mild cramping.  And implantation bleeding can occur any time from mid cycle to a few days after AF is due, with cramps starting from a few days before AF is due normally.

Do you have any other symptoms at all?  With my first pregnancy, I had very sore b*****s from a couple of days before AF would have been due.

Well i would say it could possibly be because of the smear especially if the nurse you seen was a bit rough and ready.  If they touch your cervix too hard in a certain place this can cause spotting but as you were saying the blood was brown, this indicates old blood so it sounds to me that your period is going to start and the nurse brought this on ever so slightly by doing the smear.  It also may have been implantation bleeding, you will just have to wait until your period is due and if it does not arrive do a pregnancy test.

it sure could be but then again if your due for your period your better off to wait and see if you get your period or not i know its hard when you just wanna know i have had implantation this month myself it came the exact day my period was due but i knew it was different it was ti light well for me anyway it had a funny smell , get a hpt anyway and see what it says best of luck and i hope you get the answer your looking for
