Import a right hand drive car estimate?

I realllllly want an Acura TL type S, but I want to be the badass chick that I am (no offense but I'm not Asian) and be one of the few around here to have a right hand drive car.

Any idea around how much more it'd be to import it?

Just to get an idea because I'm already saving up...

Although I think it'd be easier just to buy it here and convert it, but I know it's more complicated to do that here with the newer cars...

  1. Great Choice. I would say buy it here and convert it but than again its a pain in the *** to the conversion. I know their imports that have semi damage right drives from japan. i believe their in New York, they had vast majority of Hatchbacks, Type R Integra, Ctr, etc...

If you dont want go through the headache of the coversion might as well buy it in japan and bring it to the states...

  2. Check the local law first.  With the exception of the post office vehicles, many states will not allow you to drive or register a right hand drive vehicle.

  3. check with the dealer- you may be able to order one from the factory , mail carriers and other delivery people in the states drive them often.Or advertise for someone that knows how to do the conversion- it'll probably cost you 3-$5000 extra though! Or just search for japanese vehicle import sites, you can only import jdm vehicles 15 years or older.

  4. you dont always have to import it yourself. there is busines's that do it for you. i live in canada and i know of a couple places that i could get import cars that i dont have to convert, or import them myself. all i would have to do is go to the import store ( tyeeimports.com is the one i go to) and buy the car. one of my friends has a twin turbo nissan 300gt import, and is a very fast, very nice car. just seach on yahoo for car importers in your area. good luck!
