Importance of Play in Early Childhoo years - resources?

I am writing a research paper on the Importance of Play in Early Childhood years. Anyone know of any good online articles or websites I could use? Thanks much!

There are several very good books on non-competitive play.  They teach children to work together to achieve a goal.  Everyone helps and everyone wins.  The play activities are grouped by ages.

Go to the library and ask your librarian to thelp you find some.

I think it is important to include this type of play and its benefits in your research paper.  

The children have so much fun working (playing) together.

It is very important to have play in earl child hood it promotes stimulates so they can imagine and encourages them to explore and discover new things and it develops independents.

plus if they work to hard they will get exhausted and wont want to learn anymore and get tired or even bored with the things that teacher are trying to teach them.

plus play helps them to learn how to socialize with other children.

I have just completed college with an AA in liberal studies emphasis on child development. Play is very important. I would recomend not using the internet to much, but to go to the library and get some books on the subject.

it's important for children to play because if they don't they'll grow up without creativity and end up with a boring life or something along that line

I hope what u mean the word play is drama! according to me it is necessary because it helps us to visualize things which is a very good habbit for building up the imagination.
