What is the importance of an arthropod’s exoskeleton?

how is it able to grow tens of times larger than it was at birth, even though it has an exoskeleton?

two benefits of an exoskeleton as well as how the arthropod grows without compromising this skeletal system?

thank you <3

  1. The arthropods are invertebrates that means that they dont have a vertebral column to support their body thats why they have an exoskeleton which gives support to their body, provides their body with protection from other insects n decay n it also helps them in movement.Arthropods grow bigger without making any compromise with their exoskeleton because when they grow they shed their old exoskeleton in small pieces, which gives some space to their body to grow larger n a new exoskeleton is formed on their body before the old one is completely shed.

  2. It supports and protects an arthropod's body.

Arthropod shed their exoskeleton, which makes them vulnerable until the new one solidifies.

  3. It is hardened cuticular covering of the body serving for protection of soft parts and as sites for muscle attachments!

It provides support for tissues and organs and protects the organism from predators.

It is able to grow because it is able to molt which is the shedding of an exoskeleton.
