  1. Communication is critical to agriculture and rural development.  It is important enough that advanced college degrees are devoted to it.  The Agriculture Extension Service was established to communicate the research findings of scientific research to the farmer where it is put into practice.  Without this type of communication farming would still be in the slash and burn practices still used in some third world countries.

  2. Effective communication is vital if development efforts are to succeed. It helps spread new technologies, multiplying the impact of a project many times over. It ensures that a project takes into account the knowledge and wishes of local people — the project partners and clientele. Sharing ideas and experiences is important if the lessons from a project are not to be lost.

Without information on new technologies and market opportunities, the poor in developing countries are being left even further behind. Media can help bridge the gap: they range from simple pamphlets to video, from indigenous communication channels to the Internet. There are many ways to make information available to local people and project staff. These include traditional print and broadcast media, and computers and other new technologies.

  3. the main impotance is that

we predict weather conditions which are favourable for agriculture, about the agriculture products like fertilizers.

  4. Communication is important but not the most and highest priority to agriculture and rural development. It is now 2007 and not too many places in the world are left out. If you can say anything it is just that in some places there are a lot of communications, whereas in others it is there, but for a given population there are fewer physical hardware connections. It is only of slowing of dissemination of that communication (the final receipt of an information packet as it were), it does not effect the quality of it nor does it alter the speed of retrieval or transmission. A concept, an idea, an event can be slowed by moments but no longer will it be lost or take months or even years to reach the desired goal. Much more time is spent deciding the value and implications.

  5. thru this the information about soil and irrigation can be provided to the farmers.the various inputs of the agricultural cycle can be explained and the help provided by the govt and the banks and other agencies can be explained so that they get good return for their produce and increase produce.
