Importance of forms to building and structure???

.... but the question is short....

..in architecture,,,forms basically have only two factors to satisfy...at times they complement and at times they "collide"...

1) function

2) aesthetics

Only nature has successfully blend "forms" together so much tat function and aesthetic managed to blend and complement each other.

Man however has managed to certain extents within his creativity to blend these two together to create the "form" tat at times provides function but has sacrificed aesthetics and vice versa.

However there are many instances where the form created has managed to marry them both.

For more detailed answers to how the forms  help to sustain the building and structures,,,,

i suggest u look into a few examples of different materials used such as steel and concrete..or even blocks of marbles as different material create different forms...and thus reflect different inferences.....
