  1. We study history because we want to know what makes us all who we are today and the stages in what we progressed, im fascinated by history and all things from the people what made this world what it is today. The past is just as important as the future, if not more important than the future because history has panned out the future for us. Don't you want to know how you are alive or how ur gran was alive and how her gran came about. It's fascinating to think, for example, If ur mum decided not to go to that bar that night you would never be alive because she would never have met your dad. one turn round a corner could change your life forever!!!!!! wow.

  2. History is the record of past events. Quite often, especially when the record is made close to the event, there will be some distortion of the facts. So part of the historian's job is to re-examine the situation in the light of archalogical discoveries and the more reliable writings and documents, so as to present a fuller and more accurate account of what really did take place. There are lots of examples of this kind of revision being needed from the times of the Bible, to the adjustment of recent biased news in modern dictatorships and monopolistic countries, with their lack of freedom of the press, radio and TV.

Its too late to change what mistakes happened in history but it is not too late to learn from them in order to have the knowledge of not repeating them again. The study of history offers an explanation of why we are living in our present-day circumstances, because without the previous happennings our present society and its government would not have developed to be the same as they are.

History thus provides us with some knowledge (if not wisdom) about how we should plan and try to arrange the future. Not all of us can do very much about this, but occasionally a leader will arrise whose wisdom and concern for past historical events will guide his present policy.

In democratic society recent history is useful in shaping our ideas as to which kind of government we would like to have and thus can influence the way that we vote. History is not a dull and boring subject but the best possible means for us to learn about giving help to poorer countries than our own and to develop good relationships and understandings in a presently changing world.

  3. so countries would remember its border and have stories to say in the united nation..:)

  4. By looking at the past, we can help explain the present and somewhat predict the future. When a war breaks out, you can look to history to see how far back the seeds of this war were planted. History is an extremely important subject to study, because even though it is research of the past, it is necessary to understand what is going on in the world today.

  5. We can learn from the mistakes of history, so we ourselves don't repeat it. we DO NOT want to repeat some of those mistakes.

    Such as the following quotes.

    "History repeats itself."

             or

"The one thing we learn from history is that we don't learn from history."
