  1. at least once a week

  2. wow... i feel bad for the poor fishy and you. you go some BAAAADDDD advice. even if they claim to be 'specialists' doesnt mean they know everything. in order to be truly happy, bettas DO need 5+ gallon heated, filtered tanks.  They dont like tiny, cold, dirty bowls. PLEASE get a proper tank! and untill then put the bowl in a warm location and do  a 1/3 rd (30%) water change every other day, using waer youve put the apropriate amont of dechlorinaor in and let sit out overnight in an open conainer=] well, good luck woh your lil fishy friend!

  3. I change my betta's water every week or 2 depending on what the water looks like. The water over time will become stagnant without filteration so you want to change it reguarly.

  4. yes it is okay do you know where these betta's grow up?

They live in little mud puddles in other countrys they are heavy duty fish it will be fine. I would clean it every 3 days though because I like looking at a clean little bowl

  5. Anything under 1 gallon needs to be changed at LEAST once a week if you have no filter. If it's a tiny jar or bowl every other day is necessary. And No Cleanser of any kind!! Just use plain water and a special aquarium scrubber to clean. Anything bigger than a gallon can be changed about every 1 1/2 weeks

  6. It depends on the size of the tank.

One of the biggest myths out there about bettas is that they prefer dirty water. Bettas will suffer if their water isn't kept as clean as possible, making them suseptible to disease and infection.

If your tank is 1 gallon, change the water every 3 days.

If your tank is 2.5 gallons, change the water every week,

If your tank is 5 gallons and unfiltered, you can change it every week and a half to 2 weeks.

Do a full, not partial water change (partial water changes are useless unless your tank is cycled.)

    Good luck!

  7. I agree with everything the first girl said about cleaning, minus the full water changes. Full water changes will not allow the nitrifying bacteria to develop in a tank and it won't cause problems really, but you'll be spending a lot of money on water conditioner if you choose to keep emptying out the whole bowl, unless you use water without chlorine or chloramines.
