  1. Lambics.

The best is Lindemans Raspberry Lambic.

Slightly bubbly and very champagne like.

It comes is a few different flavors but Raspberry is the best.

But if your looking for something without a fruit flavor, look at the Belgium's.

They are the Champagnes of beer.

Chamay is a very good one.

  2. I think that the beer that you're looking for is:

    Deus Brut des Flandres

    Commercial Description:

First brewed at Bosteels, transfered to the Champagne region of France were it is treated much like a champagne with the bottles inverted and the yeast expunged and bottle recorked.

The bottle fermentation of this beer replicates that of champaign.  Any beer or wine naturally carbonated in the bottle, will develop a yeast and protein sediment.  While there is nothing wrong with consuming this sediment, many folks feel this detracts from the asthetic value of the beverage.  Champaign producers overcome this issue by inverting the bottles during the carbonation process.  They have a special valve set-up (a little beyond my understanding) that allows them to drain off the sediment without losing carbonation.  This beer is treated the same way.

Deus beer is fairly available in the U.S. at specialty beer stores.  I've seen it go from between $20 - $30 a bottle.  I think that it's significantly overpriced.  Not that it's a bad beer, but I would buy a St. Bernardus Abt 12 at $10 instead.

Hopefully this gets you where you need to go!

  3. I can confirm it is Deus Brut des Flandres. I just had it a few weeks ago. It is nice. He is right about the price but consider it the cost of handling. It is unique and proper. A great choice for your anniversary.

  4. can you describe it more?

maybe its color. (is it dark).? is it medium full or light bodied (is it heavy)? im assuming it comes in a bottle with a cork..

their are hundreds if not thousands of beers in belgium.. is it one of the more popular ones?

duvel is quite popular and i can see how some one can compare it to champagne... the bottles can even look like champagne bottles.. see here..--->http://www.flickr.com/photos/kingpowerci...
