Imported video clip doesn't show correctly in Windows Movie maker

I imported .avi format video which is created by movie capture in VM. After imported to the collection, they show skewed and no color. These video clip can be played properly in movie maker. But, after drag them into storyboard, then they can't display properly, they have no color and is skewed badly.

Please help!

  1. Windows Movie Maker (I believe) only shows MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, and MPEG-4. Most camcorders have some sort of format of one of the four categories. If that doesn't help then talk to Windows Advisors and download a free update so you can try to fix the problem.


  2. AVI is not a media format, it's a container format. That means it acts like a box, with the video and audio streams sitting inside. The video and audio streams are what's incompatible with WMM.

    You can convert your video with the video converter below, and choose another encoder,  which is compatible with wmm.
